Democrats, including Frisch, a local businessman, have "already reserved $1.2 million in advertising for the race," which isn't until 2024, the Times reported, citing the tracking firm Ad Impact. At a casino bingo hall in southwestern Colorado, Lauren Boebert, the Republican congresswoman, bounced her 6-month-old grandson on her knee. “The election’s still a ways away,” she said, as the guests arriving for the Montezuma County Republican Party’s annual Lincoln Day dinner trickled into the room. The footage contradicted her own initial claims about the incident, and the venue’s statement that Ms. Boebert had demanded preferential treatment added to the outrage. The episode has proved surprisingly sticky for Ms. Boebert, a politician who more than almost any other has embodied the gleefully provocative, no-apologies politics of the party’s right wing in the Biden era. Several local Republican officials have since announced their endorsement of Jeff Hurd, a more conventional Republican challenging her for the nomination this year.

‘Treason,’ the Musical Where the Fans Came First
  + stars: | 2023-11-02 | by ( Holly Williams | ) www.nytimes.com   time to read: +1 min
The catchy, folk-tinged numbers from “Treason the Musical” have been streamed online over a million times, in 96 countries. Its fans — known as “Plotters” — have been listening to an EP, an acoustic record and a live album of the songs, as well as sharing their own performances on TikTok. Unlike “Beetlejuice,” “Heathers” or “Dear Evan Hansen,” which all parlayed onstage popularity into huge digital followings, “Treason” is turning the formula for musical success around. Its producers cultivated an online fandom for three years before raising the curtain on the show, and are now banking on those fans buying theater tickets, too. “Treason” is currently on a 27-show tour of Britain that culminates in two performances at London’s largest theater, the 2,286-seater Palladium, on Nov. 21-22.

Rep. Lauren Boebert is shifting her campaign strategy as she faces another tough challenge in 2024. The change of heart comes after her close 2022 race and a Beetlejuice scandal that made national news. "Democrats certainly smell blood in the water," Boebert told the AP before a Lincoln Day Dinner in southwest Colorado. Frisch, her 2022 challenger, told MSNBC's Symone Sanders-Townsend that the Denver incident was "another notch in the belt of embarrassment." Next year, Boebert will also face several Republican primary challenges as she seeks a third term in office.

After Boebert won her last race by just 546 votes, she began revamping her campaign strategy. So-called ballot harvesting, which she's decried as an underhanded Democratic tactic, will be part of her campaign strategy. While campaigning in the district this election, Boebert seems “more empathetic" than her disruptive national profile. At events and debates in the last election, Boebert railed against then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who became a foil for bloated government, a broken system and Democratic demagoguery. After Colorado's largely city dwellers voted to reintroduce wolves to Colorado, Boebert has also proposed legislation to give ranchers greater recourse to defend their flocks.
